Microsoft Word is currently the most common Word Processor on the market. Because it is so common, the .doc format has become the standard for text documents but with the new Word 2007 .docx is used so most people will stick to the old and trusted, although it is possible to save as a .doc file in Word 2007.
First released in 1983. The Word for Windows was released in 1989. Word has many more capabilities than just a Word Processor with the Drawing Tools it becomes a simple Desktop Publishing Programme. It is possible to create calculations in Word too.
Once up to speed with Word you can produce documents using tables, graphics, charts, spreadsheets, databases such as mail merge, you can learn how to use Styles and make all of your work consistent. Word is very versatile.
