Want a presence on the web? For a limited time I am offering to make a web site using CSS and HTML for free, to the first person who asks me. 
I want to build up a portfolio in this area. Websites can be designed using free packages, so you do not need to buy expensive software to maintain your site. I will also offer you advice on how to get a host and set up a website. See steps below. This offer is not for e-commerce sites,
or sites requiring a database but any charities or non-profit
organisations may apply.
10 Steps to getting an online web site.
Step 1. Think of a name for your website.
Step 2 Buy a .com, .uk, .org, or another website name, they cost between £3.00 to £20.00 per year, depending on whom you purchase the name from.
Step 3 Find a host to host your website, there are plenty of affordable hosts around. Cost for a decent one from £20.00 upwards per year. If you opt for a free one, you will get ad's or have to display their name and link on each page, or have their name in your domain.
Step 4 Point your website name to your host address.
Step 5 Organise your web site's information, the logo, photos, contacts, information, forms, and content. Design a plan for the styles and layouts.
Step 6 Create the website, remember to optimise images, or have someone create the website for you. Include fixes for browser issues, and a style sheet.
For special features such as a search box, you will have to pay extra, or accept free versions with ads. Likewise forms with spam fixes. If you need a database for your website you will need knowledge of MySQL, or Asp.Net, and others, just generally database languages, if you have a package that includes a database system, you will be OK providing your server supports the database programme you want to use. For example If you are using FrontPage to design your website you will need a Windows server who has FrontPage extensions installed.
Step 7 Upload your web site to the server.
Step 8 Promote your web site, post to search engines.
Step 9 Write about your website on blogs, facebook, etc.
Step 10 Get back links from people who are in the same field as you are, to increase your rank.
