by Christine Maloney
Step 1
Think of a name for your website.Step 2
Buy a .com, .uk, .org, or other website name, they cost between £3.00 to £20.00 per year, depending on whom you purchase the name from.Step 3
Find a host to host your website, there are plenty of affordable hosts around. Cost for a decent one from £28.00 upwards per year. If you opt for a free one, you will have ad's or have to display their name and link on each page, or have their name in your domain.Step 4
Point your website name to your host address. Step 5
Organise your web site's information, the logo, photos, contacts, information, forms, and content. Design a plan for the styles and layouts. Step 6
Create the website, remember to optimise images, or have someone create the website for you. Include fixes for browser issues, and style sheets, make them external and any scripts that you use. If you need a database for your website you will need knowledge of using MySQL, or ASP Net for example, if you have a hosting package that includes a database system, you can use that, providing your server supports the database programme you want to use. For example If you are using FrontPage to design your website you will need a Windows server which has FrontPage extensions installed and the database program ASP.Net. Step 7
Add keywords and a description to your meta tags. Upload your web site to the server. Step 8
Promote your web site, post to search engines.Step 9
Write about your website on blogs, Facebook, etc. Step 10
Work on getting back links from people who are in the same field as you are, to increase your page rank.
