Open up PowerPoint 2000/XP
Blank Presentation
Insert
a New Slide
Click on Insert/ Insert New Slide
From the fly-out of page layouts that will open up choose for the title layout the blank page for your first page. Although you will probably want a title layout, for the purpose of this exercise, choose a blank layout.
