For software that you use a lot of, such as Office, instead of going to the programs list each time, right click on the program item.
Click on send to desktop (create shortcut) on Vista, or similar for other OS, you will then be able to access your Office software from the desktop.
When printing out on your PC if you don't need colour, remember to print in black and white mode.

Right click on the recycle bin and choose properties, remove the tick from Display delete confirmation. Take care though with this feature removed you will not be able to regain your files once deleted.
