    Some new apps are offering small business IT support right from your smartphone or tablet. Some small business owners are putting these apps to productive use, such as the owners of Coastal Cupcakes in North Carolina. They've actually swapped their expensive cash registers for an iPad app, which was custom designed for them by a company called POS LAVU.

    The firm created a custom cupcake program for their business for an $895 licensing fee plus a monthly charge of $60 for maintenance. They say that it was a smart business decision, and it also helps that their customers think its cool. With the new iPad registers, customers can choose to have their receipts emailed which saves on paper. And when given the choice, these business owners report that almost 75% of customers did not want a paper receipt.
